Project: Personalities
Objective: Students have to develop a presentation, using resources provided in the classroom, like biographies, and concepts resembling accomplishments and traits, in order to inform their classmates.
Development:
- The group has to select an international personality from any field (thinker, scientist, poet, writer, etc.)
- Then they have to look for the personality’s biography in sources like the internet or any other mean or media (www.biography.com).
- As a third step, Students have to create a mini biography (like two or three paragraphs).
- Now, also bases in the personality’s biography, students have to make a list of accomplishments.
- Moreover, always bases in the biography, students have to build a list of traits too.
Materials:
- Three medium size charts.
- Or a PowerPoint presentation.
The Presentation:
- The three members of the group must participate in the presentation.
- The first participant has to introduce the group and begin with his\her part, the mini biography.
- The second participant has to give the accomplishment.
- The third participant has to do the traits.
Presentation Example:
- Good morning everybody, today my partners and I are going to talk about Mr. George Bernard Shaw.
- First of all, let me give you (let me tell you, let me read you) his\her biography.
E.g. George Bernard Shaw was born…
- Hello class, Mr. George Bernard Shaw accomplishments are:
- Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925.
- He became a great payrolls writer
- Hello everyone, now I am going to tell you Mr. George Bernard Shaw traits.
- Playwright,
- Essayist
- Pamphleteer
- Musician
- Thank you for your cooperation.
Requirements:
- Must on time
- The group only have 6 minutes to do their presentation
- Good appearance
- No hesitations
- Present a report.
Project: Technology versus Science
Subject: English for 11th grade
Teacher: Mr. Jorge Melendez
Objectives:
- Learn about technology
- Find out what is Science
- Make a comparison between technology and science.
In order to develop this assignment you have to read all these instructions carefully and follow every step in the process.
Step 1. You have to look for both concepts technology and science uses as many resources as you can reach, e.g. Text, articles, videos, dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.
Step 2. Look for actual differences between these two topics, list them.
Step 3. Find a good sample that you can use to explain what you had understood; it could be a text, an article or a video.
Step 4. With all these material, prepare a presentation where you state what the differences are?
Requirements:
- The investigation must be done in groups of three students.
- Present a transcript of your work.
- The presentation will take place whenever the teacher says to do so.
- In the presentation the three members of the group should participate.
- The presentation would be hold just in English.
- The presentation would last only 7 minutes.
